The Amazon Web Services (AWS) are a collection of remote computing services offered over the Internet by Amazon.com. AWS provides an infrastructure for web services in the cloud and was launched in 2006.

In order to use an Amazon Web Service, such as Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3), we need an Amazon Web Services account first. This account, by the way, isn’t linked to your regular Amazon account.

Creating an Amazon Web Services Account

Let’s sign up for an Amazon Web Services Account.

Amazon Web Services Front Page

Head over to the Amazon Web Services page. Once there, click the yellow ”Sign Up Now” button to get to the registration form.

Amazon Web Services Sign In Form

Fill in your e-mail address, and mark the “I am a new user.” Click the “Sign in using our secure server” button next.

Enter your name, type your e-mail address twice and create a password (which you also need to type in twice). Hit the “Create account” button when the form has been filled out.

Amazon Web Services Contact Information

Now it’s time to fill in your contact information. You also need to accept the Amazon Web Services Customer Agreement. Click the “Continue” button when you’re done filling in the form.

This page simply informs you that you’ve created an account with Amazon Web Services, and that a confirmation e-mail has been sent along with information regarding your new account.
