Frequently Asked Questions

You got questions, we got answers. Below is a list of our most commonly asked questions.

1. Which distributions do you offer?

We officially support Debian GNU/Linux 6.0 (x86_64). However, if you'd like a recent version of Ubuntu GNU/Linux (x86_64) instead, then you can send us an e-mail and we will gladly install it for you.

2. How many users go onto each machine?

VPSs of identical plans are grouped together onto a host. On average, a 768 host has 30 VPSs, a 1024 host has 20 VPSs, a 1536 host has 14, a 2048 host has 10 VPSs and a 4096 host has 5 VPSs.

3. Can I reboot my machine?

You may perform a soft reset (that is, shutdown -r now) as you see fit. If you've locked yourself out, or for some other reason cannot perform a soft reset, then you'll need to send us an e-mail and we'll be happy to help.

4. Do you offer backups?

No, backups are your responsibility. All storage is RAID-1, meaning that you are protected against disk failure. A controller failure, however, or multiple disk failure, may still lead to catastrophic dataloss. In short, RAID-1 is not a substitute for backups.

5. Can I upgrade my VPS?

Yes. We take your VPS down, expand the RAM and disk, then start it back up again.

6. Can I buy extra IPs?

Yes, contact support to order additional IP addresses. They are €1/month.

7. How does the CPU scheduling work?

In the worst-case scenario, you are splitting CPU time evenly with the other VPSs on the host machine, but are still able to use the full potential of the host if others are idle.

8. What is your SLA?

Our SLA is that we'll do our best to keep the servers running for as long as possible. If something goes wrong, we'll get them up as fast as we can and give you an explanation on what happened.

9. Do you provide web-based console access?

No, because we view it as an added security risk.

10. What if I go over my bandwidth amount?

Our bandwidth limits are soft caps. If you went over by a few GB we typically won't invoice. Overages are €0.10/GB.
